Chickens make a great addition to the family. They can be funny, clever, have their own personalities, and even pay their way in quality food! Chickens are easy to care for and can be a great way for children to learn responsibility as well as learn about the care and handling of livestock. Whether you are bringing home your first flock, or adding to your existing flock you will need to consider where you are going to house them.

Chickens come in all shapes and sizes and some are more tolerant of close quarter than others, which will need plenty of space to spread their wings.

Some other questions you will need to consider include: How much space will your adult chickens need? Would you prefer a portable coop? What should you look for in a coop? Build or buy?
